👮 READ what the Colorado AG has to say about Aurora PD

Earlier this month, Colorado’s Attorney General Phil Weiser made national news when he announced that three Aurora police officers and two paramedics would face charges in connection with the death of Elijah McClain in 2019. Now, Weiser is back with a broader look at Aurora PD and Aurora’s fire department. His office reportedly reviewed more than a million records, reports, and other documents, as well as body-worn camera footage, dating from over a five-year period and found a “pattern and practice” of racially biased policing, using excessive force, failing to document stops as required by the law, and illegally using ketamine. You can find the whole report here, including the reform efforts Weiser’s office will be pursuing. [Denver Post]

🍻 DRINK one last beer at Factotum Brewhouse

The Sunnyside brewery is calling it quits after 6 years and one long pandemic. The owners say their business was turning around and they made an offer to buy their building, but the landlord said no. “So where does that leave us?" Factotum’s owners asked in a Facebook post announcing their closure. "Truthfully, we’re not 100 percent sure. We are a profitable yet soon-to-be homeless brewery. The good thing is that we're blessed with lots of options, and we're exploring each of those options with clarity, pragmatism and logic.” They’re throwing a good-bye party on October 9, so you still have time to head over there and make a toast to the good times.
