Enabling Data Sharing with NoleStor

Researchers at major Florida universities can now share data faster and easier than ever with a recently deployed state-wide storage system. This system is an initiative from the the Sunshine State Education and Research Computing Alliance (SSERCA) and uses DDN's Web Object Storage technology.

RCC's NoleStor system is part of this new state-wide network.  Data stored on the system in NoleStor can be replicated over the high-speed Florida LambdaRail (FLR) at gigabit speeds to collaborators at UCF, UF, FIU, UM, USF, and others.

During the Supercomputing '14 conference in November, demonstrations were given with data replicated on storage systems at FSU, UF, and USF, as well as a system on the conference floor.

Beefing up the Condor System

Just a heads up, the Condor System has been running at diminished capacity for the past few months, but we are now in the process of installing the remaining nodes in the system.  Many are already online.

So, If you haven't logged into Condor in a while, you should give it a shot!

Spotlight: Huan-Xiang Zhou

We've produced a short video highlighting the research efforts of Dr. Huan-Xiang Zhou in the FSU Department of Physics.

Dr. Zhou heads up a lab that carries out theoretical, computational, and experimental studies on the structure, dynamics, and function of proteins.  The Zhou Research Lab makes use of the HPC and other RCC systems to enable their important research.
