The RCC is planning another HPC maintenance period this summer, which will occur in stages between July 25 and August 19. During this maintenance, we will be upgrading the HPC, Lustre, Spear, and other systems.

Using Globus for Reliable Big Data Transfer
Globus is a robust, online tool that simplifies the process of transferring large (GB or TB) data sets to and from RCC systems. This service enables you to transfer data from your personal workstations, share it with other researchers, or move data among different HPC providers.

RCC Staff and SC Student Team Up for Practicum
Scientific Computing undergraduate Brett-Michael Green and RCC Software Specialist Dr. Bin Chen have teamed up for a practicum project, "Simulated Gravitational Microlensing from a Star Field Using Ray-Tracing Methods." We have many opportunities for students available.

Spear Interactive Queuing System Retired
We have retired the Spear Interactive Queuing System (IQS) tool in favor of using the built-in capabilities of SSH and NoMachine to connect to Spear. We have done this in order to simplify the process of connecting to Spear and to eliminate some technical issues.
