Indico joins UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment
Lisbon, December 19th, 2019 - Indico Capital Partners just announced it has joined the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
The PRI is an international global network of asset managers, owners and service providers working together to put responsible investment into practice. The principles, which are voluntary, aim to provide a framework for integrating environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) considerations into investment decision-making and ownership practices.
Funds such as Indico adhere to a set of principles that are encapsulated by PRI's commitment statement - “As institutional investors, we have a duty to act in the best long-term interests of our beneficiaries. In this fiduciary role, we believe that environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) issues can affect the performance of investment portfolios (to varying degrees across companies, sectors, regions, asset classes and through time). We also recognize that applying these Principles may better align investors with the broader objectives of society."
Stephan Morais, Managing General Partner at Indico stated that "As active investors, we have the responsibility to make sure that we are aware of all external and internal factors that might impact the companies we invest in and wider stakeholders. Becoming a signatory of PRI reinforces our commitment to comply with that responsibility and it is also the right thing to do as a fund manager that believes in high standards of governance and accountability. As venture capital investors we do not get everything right, but we can certainly try to do the right thing."
