Valentines Day: Healthy love for the whole family
On this coming Sunday, Februay 14, Endstation Theatre comes to Second Stage for a special preview of their new original script for Young Audiences. The Whole Bunch is written by Joshua Mikel in collaboration with Dr. Rachel Gagen (Live Healthy Lynchburg) and is an Endstation Community Centered New Work with the goal of educating Lynchburg area elementary school children about nutrition. For two weeks, Endstation will be touring around Central Virginia elementary schools.
The production is presented in partnership with Centra Health, Live Healthy Lynchburg, Amazement Square, the Education Foundation and the Junior League of Lynchburg. The show will tour around Central Virginia elementary schools with the goal of educating students about nutrition.
The play follows quirky cowboy Sam Sarsaparilla and his trusty sidekick Horseradish as they learn about healthy eating, meeting characters such as Gary Garlic, Betty Broc, and Russell Brussel along the way.
The preview performance at Second Stage will be at 4:30 on Valentine's Day! Donations will be accepted and will support Endstation and Second Stage programming.

A full production of the play can be seen at Randolph College’s Thoresen Theatre, February 19-21. Ticket information is on Endstation's website.
This special preview performance at Second Stage | Amherst is sponsored by Glad Manufacturing/The Clorox Foundation.
Our 2016 Second Weekend Series
Beginning in March, Second Stage will host a performance every Second Weekend of the month throughout 2016. Read about the great music coming up next in March ... mark your calendars for a great evening of entertainment in downtown Amherst.
We will be entertained in a fine fashion in March!
We'll open the new series with a lively evening featuring the Carol McAvoy Project. This Nelson-based group was formed when a couple of old friends who had mixed it up musically for years wanted to build a new group from the ground up. They'll deliver pop-jazz standards, classic rock tunes, funky-folk melodies, and the blues, all presented with first-rate vocals and harmonies, top-rate instrumentation and a unique kaleidoscope of rhythms.

This could well be a night to wear your dancing shoes!
Check out this YouTube of one tune from their performance at Rapunzel's in Lovingston.
