APRIL 24, 2020
It may be summer in Los Angeles and the Arctic tundra in New York right now, but at some point in between, it was supposed to be spring. Originally, this season's collections had called for crafty knits, lacey touches, and prairie girl energy. Although most of our favorite springtime festivities—and the outfits that go along with them—have been all but canceled this year, one particular trend has still managed to blossom from the safety of our homes. Perhaps it's no surprise, as we bake our breads and tidy our rooms, that daintily embroidered and classically crocheted cardigans have never felt more right for our new domestic lives. Somehow, they dress up our sweatpants and leggings. Surely, they'll make a perfect pairing with jeans and cutoffs come summer and fall. And like the IRL flowers I've been discovering on my daily walks, now that we're forced to pay attention to the magical little details of life, these cardis have been bringing a little extra joy to my daily feed. I'm all but convinced I need one—and although the attention to detail skews the most popular versions towards an expensive price range, if you're looking for one this weekend, too, try scouring Etsy for a truly vintage version from a small biz that could use the love.
