LAST WEEK'S EDITION
BY LAUREN BLACK
Après-ski is the ultimate aspirational style—and while I have no idea how to help with your ski or snowboard skills, I have a few ideas on how to approach your packing list for your next winter retreat. Of course, aspirational has traditionally meant inaccessible, but there are a few brands currently making luxurious-looking pieces much more within reach. There are also a few tricks you can use to elevate any ensemble from the slopes to the lodge—just keep reading to find out how.

1. The Slopes.
Rent The Runway just changed the game by adding luxury snow wear brands to their closet, but you can also find more reasonably priced pieces from Topshop or killer vintage snowsuits if you're willing to do some digging. For a truly chic look, start with a monochrome base layer, top it with a fitted, statement puffer, and if you're going all out, one brand-name accessory will make your whole outfit appear infinitely more extra. Not your style? Any kind of statement accessory, like a neon beanie, will make things just as fun.
JACKET SAM, $350 TOP SPYDER, RTR PANTS SPYDER, RTR SUNGLASSES Ray-Ban, $190 SCARF Fendi, $590 GLOVES The North Face, $39 BOOTS Moon Boot, $210
2. The Après-Ski.
Although dressing like a stick of butter doesn't sound aspirational, wearing an all-white ensemble certainly looks expensive. Top your shades of cream with a faux fur or shearling coat, add stylish snow boots, and grab another designer (or designer like!) piece to elevate the whole thing.
COAT Unreal Fur, $399 TOP J.Crew, $30 PANTS Everlane, $78 SUNGLASSES & Other Stories, $29 BAG Stella McCartney, $595 BOOTS Marc Fisher, $250
3. The Sundown.
If you're stepping out in the evening, bundling up—in style—will be key. Start with a black parka and an oversized sweater, but add leather leggings and statement hardware for a sleeker touch. And good news: lug sole boots are not only trendy, but also practical in inclement weather.
COAT Aritzia, $298 SWEATER Mango, $30 PANTS Aritzia, $138 BEANIE J.Crew, $11 BAG Kara, $375 BOOTS Zara, $170
4. The En Route.
Cashmere (or cashmere-like) matching sets are another luxury item becoming increasingly attainable (and pro-tip: right now is a great time to find them on sale). Make it known that you're travelling to-and-from a mountain retreat in a full monochrome ensemble with a few furry accessories for extra coziness.
COAT Everlane, $250 SWEATER Everlane, $95 PANTS Everlane, $98 SCARF Everlane, $150 BAG Stand Studio, $178 SHOES Loafers, $995
