Dear Friends,

2015 is turning out to be a year of wonderful collaborations with superb colleagues from many parts of the world. I'm working with ensembles large and small in many genres, and continuing with my own exploratory projects in traditional, baroque and contemporary music.

On December 26, 2014:  “Suzie LeBlanc was appointed Member of the Order of Canada for her contribution to the development of early music and Acadian culture as a singer and teacher. The ceremony will take place during 2015”.

I am honoured and humbled to receive this incredible award. Thank you to everyone who has sent greetings and congratulations.

January Collaboration: KAREN YOUNG - jazz singer from Montreal

In January, I had the honour of singing in a new work by Karen Young, her Missa Campanula (The Bell Mass). It is a liturgical work for five soloists, three trebles, and choir. She composed it for her mother, whose second name was Bell (Lorna Bell Chadwick).

To introduce you to Karen Young and her masterwork, here is an interview from CBC’s “Ici Musique,” just a few days before the January 18th Montreal premiere at the Church of the Visitation. We recorded Missa Campanula, and it will appear on compact disc later this year, or early in 2016.

*In case you don't know Karen's music, click on the above video where she is interpreting with Sylvain  Provost at the Kazlo Jazz Fest.

Symphony New Brunswick:
Celebrating our Heritage

I can’t wait to go to my home province of New Brunswick, to sing on the Bravo series with Symphony New Brunswick. This will be my second performance with SNB (the first was Handel’s Messiah) and it has been a while since I’ve been back to New-Brunswick to perform with this orchestra. I’m very much looking forward to performing in Moncton, Fredericton and St-John and hope to reconnect with friends and extended family during this small tour.

The orchestra will feature members of Camerata NB and Ventus Machina, under the direction of conductor Michael Newnham. The program comprises two song cycles on poems by Elizabeth Bishop by Canadian composers Alasdair MacLean and Christos Hatzisas well as Acadian traditional songs, arranged by Andrew Creeggan (former member of Barenaked Ladies). The Symphony will perform the much-loved Holberg Suite by Grieg, Britten’s Sinfonietta and Fantasia on Greensleeves by Vaughan Williams.
