Achieving Whole Health Funded
by Children's Hospital!

  Dear AWFH members and friends,
We are thrilled to announce that Asian Women for Health has been selected as a Community     Partnership Fund recipient this year by Children's Hospital.  The grant will  support "Achieving Whole Health," a pilot peer health intervention program for at-risk young  Asian women, in collaboration with the Teen Center at Roxbury Tenants of Harvard in Mission  Park.

In addition, we are working with Dr. Lisa Gualtieri from Tufts University to conduct a focus group study on Chinese, Vietnamese and South Asian women in the fall.  The aim for the research is to learn what prevents Asian women from utilizing preventive care such as mammograms and Pap smear tests.  The focus group takes about an hour and half and all participants will receive a $25 gift card as a token for their time and efforts. Please see flyer for more information and feel free to pass it on via your network.

Finally, our much anticipated CelebrASIANS benefit fashion show is underway. This year, 20 Asian cancer/trauma survivors walk the runway and share their inspiring stories.  Korean Church of Boston (32 Harvard Street, Brookline) will host the event on Friday, Oct 9th from 6:30-9pm.  Guests will enjoy complimentary lip touch up service, hand massage during the reception, and a chance to bid on fabulous auction items.

We hope you will join us and urge others to purchase the tickets at: https://celebrasians2015.eventbrite.com

Sincerely,
Chien-Chi Huang
