Pagoda Raising House Party: Help Raise $5,000 by July 31


 
A huge thank you to all who attended and/or supported Asian Women For Health's first ever Pagoda Raising House Party on Friday, July 1st! During this intimate event, in the gorgeous space provided by our gracious and generous host, Victoria I, President and Founder of Community Cooks, we had the opportunity to share about our organization, impact, vision, and goals with friends new and old. These wonderful conversations were accompanied by the beautiful piano-playing of the talented Timothy Huynh. We are sincerely grateful for the generous support of all the following contributors:

TEAM Receives $100k from the Hope & Grace Fund

Together Empowering Asian Minds (TEAM) is pleased to announce the launch of a National Public Awareness campaign on Asian mental health in fall 2016, with $100,000 received from the hope & grace initiative by Philosophy.This campaign will reach 150,000 people and engage Asian women with culturally responsive messages and resources. This uplifting event is our signature community engagement fundraiser that celebrates the courage and resilience of Asian cancer & trauma survivor models. Last year, not only were we featured in Sampan Newspaper, but more than 150 people showed up in spite of the pouring rain and heavy traffic over the Columbus Day weekend! The United State of Women Summit

On June 14th, the White House Council on Women and Girls, together with the Department of State, the Department of Labor, the Aspen Institute and Civic Nation, held the first United State of Women Summit in an effort to work towards gender equality. The Summit consisted of experts, advocates, and leaders across the nation to highlight achievements and address actions to move forward. Watch the Summit and join the movement! #StateofWomen
 
State House Event on Peer Support

On June 28th, Chien-Chi Huang, Executive Director and Founder of AWFH, joined a panel of inspiring speakers at The Transformation Center's Celebrating Resilience: How Peer Support Transforms Lives Event. Over 200 people gathered at the State House to celebrate and give voice to the power, purpose and value of Certified Peer Specialists and the peer support movement.

Before joining AWFH's TEAM (Together Empowering Asian Minds) campaign as their Stakeholder Engagement Liaison, Vicki Yuen spent over eight years at WGBH helping to manage WGBH's overall relationship with public television stations and to extend the reach of their national series through promotion, outreach, events, and partnerships with local stations. Vicki hopes her extensive experience will help TEAM forge powerful allies in their mission to engage, educate, and empower Asian Americans about mental health.
