Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Did you know that in MA alone, there are over 4,000 people who get sexually assaulted every year? That's 12 people each day and 2 people per hour. Asian Women for Health wants you to know that prevention is possible. Learn how to prevent sexual violence here. Spread the word and be the change!
The Right to Live Full Lives

Currently, there are no explicit, legal protection to ensure that transgender people cannot be turned away from or denied service at businesses in MA. We can fix this by passing a commonsense bill that protects our transgender friends and neighbors from discrimination. Raise your voice and make a difference today!
Plum Blossoms

Elizabeth OuYang: Elizabeth is a Civil Rights Lawyer, Activist, and Teacher. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, she found scores of Caucasian women to turn to for support. While she was grateful, Elizabeth yearned to talk to other Asian American women about their experience. Thus, Plum Blossoms was created to connect and empower Asian American women with breast cancer.
Achieving Whole Health Program

MA HPV Initiative

Each year, an estimated 26,000 cancers are attributed to HPV. Even though HPV vaccine can prevent cancer, immunization rates remain low. If you or a loved one have not received their HPV vaccination, schedule an appointment with your doctor today!
Asian Traditional Medicine/Community Listening 

In partnership with South Cove Community Health Center and Quincy Asian Resource, Inc., healthcare providers and consumers alike are invited to attend the event which will consist of both local and statewide expertise on the topics of Asian Traditional Medicine, followed by a community listening session.
Law School Scholarship 
The Infinity Law Group in MA recently launched its 3rd Annual Asian Heritage Law School Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded every fall semester. The deadline is August 1st, so apply today and spread the word!

Member of the Month
Julia Lai is a graduate student studying Anatomy and Neurobiology at Boston University School of Medicine. She volunteers as the Conference Coordinator of the 4th annual conference on the State of Asian Women’s Health in Massachusetts for AWFH. This year’s conference focuses on “Technology for Asian Health & Healthcare Delivery.” Several of Julia’s responsibilities include maintaining communications with our esteemed conference speakers and preparing the conference program book.
