VSI Alliance News & Events 

VSI Alliance: Calderdale VSCE Assembly - 17th November 
You are invited to attend the second meeting of the VSCE Assembly on Thursday 17 November 2022, 1- 3 pm.  Learn more about the new Calderdale Cares Board arrangements (integrated health and social care partnership at place) see how your organisation contributes to the overall wellbeing of individuals and the surrounding environment. A chance to share your views and influence future decisions.

CFFC: Nominations are Open for the Calderdale Community Spirit Awards
The Community Foundation for Calderdale host the Community Spirit Awards celebrating the often unsung champions who work in our community, often in extremely challenging situations. This is an opportunity for us to say thank you and give recognition to the Not-for-profit organisations, groups and individuals, who give of their time and energy doing brilliant work to make Calderdale a nicer place to live.

Sane: Creative Awards Scheme
The SANE Creative Awards Scheme aims to improve the quality of life for people with mental health problems, their carers and families by supporting their artistic aspirations and helping fulfil their creative potential. Awards will be given to cover or contribute to the cost of materials, specific projects or training courses, or towards providing replacement care in the case of carers who wish to apply. Awards range from £75 to £300. Proposals can be submitted for works of visual art. For the purposes of the scheme, visual art encompasses all forms of painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media and digital art.

Police UK: STREETSAFE
There might be a street in your area which does not have adequate lighting when it gets dark or there may be an abandoned building that has been vandalised. The StreetSafe tool is here to help put a stop to this. The tool allows you to anonymously report areas where you feel unsafe. Here in West Yorkshire, the Police have already began implementing changes within our districts following the feedback given by residents on the StreetSafe tool.

CalderdaleCreates Launches New Training & Events Programme
The key partnership for culture in Calderdale is excited to announce a new series of network events & industry training events that is live from September onwards. The events and training specifically cater to the sector in Calderdale coming out the priorities identified in the cultural strategy.

Scope: Free Pre- Employment Training Course - 27th September
This service is most suitable for people who haven't worked before or not worked for a long time and are not currently working. Starting Line is a 7-week group course, covering a range of modules in pre-employability skills, combined with one to one tailored support and guidance.

Shaping Our Lives: Thinking Outside the Tick Box - A User-Led Inclusive Involvement Conference - 1st November 
This conference is the UK's first user-led inclusive involvement conference, drawing together service users from marginalised communities to talk about what matters to them when it comes to having their say in the services that affect their lives. Join us online or in Birmingham to hear from an array of speakers, and to share and discuss how to make involvement truly inclusive, meaningful and effective.

YHMAST: Ey Up, Dad! - Engaging with the Men in Children's Lives - 25th November 
This conference will explore the topic of engaging fathers, partners and other important men in practice from various different viewpoints: men's lived experience, attachment, bonding, mental health, learning from reviews, practice tips and sharing of knowledge

Calderdale Cares Community Programme Board (3CPB): Calderdale Innovation Funds - Closing 28th October

We are excited to announce that the Calderdale Cares Community Programme Board (3CPB) has received funding to support the creation of new and innovative ideas that will support the development of our community sector. As a Board we want to people to live healthier lives in healthy places all across Calderdale. This additional money presents a great opportunity for us to explore new ideas on the delivery of community services and how they can make a positive contribution to people’s lives. To do this, the Calderdale Cares Community Programme Board is now inviting bids from across the system on how we can develop community services.

Limitless: Support Worker – Learning Disability Service - Closing 23rd September

Women Centre: Deputy CEO - Closing 29th September
30 hours a week 39- 42 £42,821-£45,859 pro rata

The post requires an established senior manager to: -

  • Support the CEO to oversee the organisation’s activities and develop future activities and income sources.
  • Work alongside the Senior Management Team and to take overall responsibility for WomenCentre’s, contract compliance/monitoring and Quality Assurance processes.
  • Contribute to the strategic and operational direction of WomenCentre by being an active and collaborative member in support of WomenCentre’s projects and activities.
Titus Salt School: School Therapist - Closing 5th October
Northpoint has been commissioned by Titus Salt School to provide a school therapy service to the children & young people who attend its school (https://www.titussaltschool.co.uk/). This exciting new partnership means we need to recruit a qualified and experienced therapist to join the schools team in order to provide the same depth and quality of support that has made our services so successful.

Volunteering  

Oxfam: Looking for Volunteers
Oxfam’s Halifax Shop is currently looking for volunteers to help with its Online Shop. We will give you all the training and support you need so you will develop your skills as part of our Online Shop team. You don’t need to have any experience – we’ve got you covered. You can also get some lunch and travel costs too. Whatever you need, we’re here to help.
