Dear Friends and Family,

Tara is cancer free!

Please celebrate with us as we share the news that Tara is officially cancer free! We thank God that He has walked with us through this journey. It has been a long battle since Tara discovered the lump in her breast back in 2020. But after prayer, chemo, radiation, surgeries and more prayer there is no detectable cancer cells in Tara's body. Praise Jesus!

You can imagine the array of emotions our family has gone through the last two and a half years but God is faithful. He has never left our side and we give Him all the glory. When we started this journey we did not keep it a secret. We immediately began sharing our diagnosis and asking for prayer. Knowing that our relationship with our Savior would be the only thing that could get us through. However, it was still a difficult process. Many decisions had to be made and had to be made quickly as the cancer was aggressive. Many times we wondered if God was with us and He continually revealed Himself gently comforting us. The most profound moment was when we met our oncologist, Dr James Splichal, for the first time. We were scared and nervous...not knowing if we were in the right place or with the right doctor or getting the right treatment. But Dr Splichal entered the examining room in his office holding his chart with all of our paperwork. I'll never forget, he looked up from his chart introduced himself and said "you guys are the missionaries, right? Can I pray for you?" The kindest words I have ever heard from a Doctor. He held our hands and he prayed...not a churchy religious prayer, but a sincere prayer for our treatment, for our children, for our ministry, for his medical staff and for our healing. With tears in our eyes Tara and I looked at each other and knew we were right where God wanted us. He is faithful and He never abandons us!
Two and a half years later we are sitting again in Dr Splichals examining room. He enters the room, again with his chart. He says he has great news. That there is no detectable cancer in Tara's scans or bloodwork. We celebrate the good news together. We talk about the goodness of God and are reminded of praying together the first time we met. As we prepare to leave Dr Splichal says "We started with prayer and we should end with prayer. Can I pray for you?"...oh what joy!
We walk out of the cancer center knowing God is with us. He has been the whole time. I'm excited because Tara is cancer free and we are going to have a celebratory lunch at the Flying Biscuit Cafe and they have the best white cheddar cheese grits on the planet. I start the car. Tara looks at me and says " now lets get back to Nepal. We have work to do."
Yes, we have work to do.

So, as we continue to celebrate and prepare for our return to the foreign mission field, I would like to ask "How can we pray for you?"
