President's Message
Our Chamber is served by volunteer business people who freely give their time, skills and knowledge to support the business community. The Chamber Board of Directors offers a firm base of experience and commercial success across a broad range of sectors. Members benefit from the advice and guidance of specialists with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities for local businesses.
To start the year off, the board of the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce held its first retreat to review and plan for 2017 and to set the platform for the strategic plan process in 2018. The board reviewed several areas of the Chamber’s existence, purpose and goals for 2017. Our agenda included an opportunity for new and standing board members to get to know each other away from the boardroom, which provided a relaxed atmosphere to get the business at hand done.
We are happy to report that we currently have approximately 265 active members, which represents nearly half of all of the businesses in the Twinsburg area. Membership revenue increased by 23% over 2016.
Some of the topics of discussion included our partnership with the Twinsburg City Schools in the development of its new initiative, Twinsburg Academy, officially launching in the fall of 2017. We are very pleased and excited to be a part of this wonderful opportunity to provide alternative career pathways for students in the district.
Through the efforts of the Scholarship Committee, plans for a reverse raffle to debut in 2018 is in its early planning stages. This will be a new event and a great addition to the funds we raise during our luncheons and other special events.
All in all, the retreat proved to be an invaluable opportunity to take a closer look at how the board operates and conducts itself. Time was spent reviewing communication efforts taken through social media, what events have worked well, and how the board can continue to serve the membership.
The Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors prides itself on the active role it plays. It understands that the continued success of the Chamber relies on a board that is committed to growth and new ideas.
Sincerely,
Allison J. Chance
2017 Board President
