       President's Message

It is hard to believe that this is the last newsletter for 2016. With another year rapidly coming to a close, it is only appropriate to provide a snapshot of our accomplishments here at the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce.

Our year in review begins with our inaugural scholarship of $1,000 issued to a Rocco Bennardo IV at the State of the Schools luncheon earlier this year.  Rocco is a 2017 Twinsburg High School graduating senior who has his sights set on a career in nursing and community safety.  The Scholarship committee raises money for this important effort with proceeds from 50/50 raffle tickets sold at the luncheons and tips collected from other events throughout the year.

Another first was through our outreach/manufacturing committee. After taking the results of a survey and spending countless of hours discussing goals and solutions, the results were taken to the school district administration for discussion of how to bring area manufacturers and students together for workforce development in a career that has changed dramatically in the past decade.

The membership committee, visited or “membership mobbed”, over 25 businesses in the area to thank them for being members of the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce.  This was well received by all the businesses that were “mobbed”. In publisher clearing house fashion, each business received a small token of appreciation and a picture taken with their staff and members of the committee.  Look for us in 2017, you never know, you could be the next.

With respect to committees, the clambake, golf outing. T.W.I.N. and Women’s Expo celebrated anniversaries in 2016.  These signature events become more popular every year with great attendance at each event.

The Chamber also participated in Taste of Twinsburg, LuminoCity and the NEO Business Show along with the Solon, Aurora, and Chagrin Valley Chambers of Commerce.
.
Also, starting in 2017, our e-newsletter has a new schedule:

2017 E-Newsletter Dates:
January 2017
March 2017
June 2017
September 2017
November 2017

We will now be sending you weekly updates and eblasts to keep you up-to-date on Chamber news and events.

We look forward to bringing you our members more opportunities to network and provide with you the best service we have to offer.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday season!

Sincerely,

Allison J. Chance

Habit Changers: 81 Game-Changing Mantras to Mindfully Realize Your Goals
by M.J. Ryan

What would you like to change in your life? Be more focused at work? Communicate more effectively? Find work-life balance? Make smarter decisions? Be more patient with your team or family? Have greater self-confidence? Less stress? Just . . . be happier?

Our biggest obstacles to change are the habits we engage in that have a profound impact on our behavior and shape everything from how we respond to challenges to how we engage with others.

In Habit Changers, M.J. Ryan shares the secret weapon that has helped others rewire their mental habits for the better called Lojong or “Slogan practice. In this Buddhist mind training process, users recite one-line habit changing aphorisms until they have reprogramed their brain’s automatic responses.  Throughout the book, Ryan explains how to use specific Habit Changers that have the most profound and lasting results. They include:

*You can’t say yes if you can’t say no
*Don’t push buttons that don’t need to be
*Handshake your fear
*Stand where you’d rather not
*Remember your highest intention
*Outsource your worry
*Reach for the better thought

It is possible to improve your focus, manage better under pressure, enhance your emotional intelligence, become more effective leaders, and more. Habit Changers will help you take control of your destiny and more easily achieve the success and happiness you desire.

Attention NOPEC customers - Don't feel neglected.  Here's what you need to know about recent changes to your electricity contract.

If you are not already with COSE’s Electric Choice Program, and in NOPEC’s aggregation, did you know your current NOPEC rate will now expire December 31st?  NOPEC’s supplier, FirstEnergy Solutions has canceled its contract with NOPEC.

The current offer expires at the end of December, which means if you do not select another electric generation supplier your account will be returned to your utility’s standard service offer at the beginning of the year, which could be a higher price and variable.

You are free to return to standard service; however, we hope you will take advantage of the recent NOPEC changes and make the switch to COSE’s long-standing Energy Choice Program.

In partnership with OnDemand Energy, COSE is pleased to offer its members an extremely attractive fixed rate from Public Power.  You now have the choice to leverage COSE’s Energy Choice Program with Public Power for a 12-month fixed rate of .0566.  Enroll today at http://www.ppandu.com/NOPEC

If you have an immediate question or concern regarding your electric contract that you have with NOPEC, please contact the power behind the COSE Choice Energy Program, OnDemand Energy at (855) 267-3688. For frequently asked questions, learn more.

We look forward to providing you more options than anywhere else and providing a no-cost consultative review of your bills.  For general questions, please feel free the COSE Energy Team at (216) 592-2205.
