There are lots of exciting things happening in the network at the moment. Preparation is well underway for our annual digital inclusion campaign, Get Online Week, from 14-20 October. If you haven’t signed up as an event holder already, you can visit the Get Online Week website to register and order your marketing pack.

Today we’ve published our Annual Review - which is a summary of all of our combined achievements from April 2018 - March 2019, highlighting some of the impacts of our work, as well as lots of new projects and partnerships.

We couldn’t have done any of this without you - our partners in the Online Centres Network - so thanks for all your hard work.

2019 GET ONLINE WEEK STAR - KERRY

Kerry is our first Get Online Week star of 2019 who has had support through her local housing provider and local Online Centre Walsall WHG. She undertook their ClickStart course which enabled her to gain skills such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Online Banking. In our video, Kerry explains how valuable her online banking app has been to her and how it has helped her turn her financial life around.

Centre of the Month

We’re delighted to announce that our centre of the month for August is Global Skills Centre. The team are highly committed to their community and do a great job in supporting their learners on Learn My Way.

Joe, a tutor at the centre, has done a fantastic job in demonstrating how Learn My Way can be a useful resource for learners, sharing the benefits of a variety of modules. He has also provided progression routes for learners.

We’ll be sending the team a £50 Amazon voucher to say thank you for their fantastic work.

Volunteering Survey

When we receive funding from our corporate partners they often ask us to provide them with opportunities for their employees to volunteer at Online Centres.

We want to make sure that any volunteering that we develop is of real use to you, and not just a box-ticking exercise. We would also like to provide the individual volunteer with a meaningful opportunity to help in their community.

This survey should only take a few minutes to answer. It will remain open until Friday 13 September.

Digital Evolution Conference: Happier. Healthier. Better Off.
Bursaries

As part of our mission to help get more people online, our conference Digital Evolution: Happier. Healthier. Better Off. will take place on Thursday 28 November at the BT Centre in London. This year, our Chief Executive, Helen Milner will be chairing the day and talking all about how digital can help people to realise a range of positive outcomes. The conference will bring together organisations from communities across the UK, including network members, delivery partners and a range of others.

It is important to us that as many centres as possible are able to attend the conference and to make the most out of the day. We are delighted to be able to offer up to 25 bursaries to cover the cost of the ticket and travel expenses. Click here to find out more information and to apply. HMRC: HELP WITH SAVINGS ON A LOW INCOME

A new savings account, Help to Save, is available to those entitled to Working Tax Credit or receiving Universal Credit, to gain a bonus of 50p for every £1 they save over a 4 year period.

Supported by the government, you can save between £1 and £50 a month and pay into your Help to Save Account using your debit card, a standing order or bank transfer. You will receive a bonus at the end of the second and the fourth year of opening the account - these are based upon how much you have saved.
