Between 14-20 October the largest digital inclusion campaign, Get Online Week, will take place across the country and I’m excited to share that you can now register as an event holder and order your free marketing pack. 

Registering as an event holder for Get Online Week means you can help others get more out of life online. Watch our video to learn how Smartlyte, a centre in Birmingham, has taken part in Get Online Week, seeing regular learners help others to gain digital skills by bringing along a family member or friend to an event. 

As part of our work to get more people online, we are also running our conference Digital Evolution: Happier. Healthier. Better Off. on Thursday 28 November at the BT Centre in London. This year, I’ll be chairing the conference and talking all about how digital can help people to realise a range of positive outcomes. 

The conference will bring together organisations from communities across the UK, including network members, delivery partners and a range of others. There will also be plenty of time for networking opportunities, as well as interactive sessions to help you get the best out of the event. 

We’ve reduced costs this year, based on feedback from Online Centres - we hope to see lots of Network members at the event!

Webinar: Running a successful crowdfunding campaign

Share & Learn event                                                          


We’re excited to have recently announced our very first Share & Learn event in Manchester on Tuesday 10 September. You’ll have the chance to join in on workshops, as well as seeing Learn My Way demos on the day, facilitated by our expert Learning Team. We’ll have experts Sally Deith to work with you on bid writing, and Johnathan Gilbert from SM4G to help you with using social media in a practical and effective way.

Do you support people with digital skills relating to work and employment? In partnership with Accenture and our Online Centres Network, we want to engage and support 1,400 people to re-skill as digital technology continues to change our jobs and workplaces.

This project is aimed at individuals aged 30-50 with no, low or limited digital skills or confidence who are interested in building their digital capability to be ready for future job opportunities. Applications close Friday 6th September at 5:30pm.

Time to Shine Seasonal Loneliness Fund applications   


Leeds Community Foundation are offering grants between £500 and £2,500 as part of the Time to Shine Seasonal Loneliness Fund. Managed by Leeds Older People’s Forum and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund’s Fulfilling Lives: Ageing Better Programme, the fund aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness amongst people over the age of 50. 

Community groups, charities, social enterprises and other charitable organisations from the third sector are welcome to apply. The deadline for applications is Thursday 5 September 2019. To find out more about the funding visit the website
