Festival of learning, #LoveToLearn
Thursday 10 January 2019

Hello <<First Name>>

The Festival of Learning (formerly known as Adult Learners’ Week) is the biggest celebration of lifelong learning in the country. It aims to highlight all of the benefits of adult learning and how it has changed the lives of so many.

As you’ll all know, our online learning platform, Learn My Way, is designed to help people to gain basic digital skills, so that they are not left behind. But we couldn't reach those people without you, your staff and your volunteers, driving that mission forward by supporting your adult learners to get online and use Learn My Way.

Get Online Week is a great example - we've shared stories of learners from our Online Centres who you've helped take a step towards changing lives through digital by trying '1 new thing'. You can read them here.

Nominating someone at your centre is a great way to celebrate the work that you do and the difference you make. You can nominate learners, tutors, employers and projects that you think deserve the recognition.

To find out more and to read nomination guidance, visit the Festival of Learning website.

Best wishes

Spotlight on: Victoria Rodney MBE Mercy Foundation Centre. We would like to congratulate Victoria Rodney who has received an MBE for voluntary service for the community in Battersea. Victoria works tirelesly helping families in her local community and even remortgaged her home to run her online centre.

How you can prepare for Safer Internet Day

You may have seen by now that we're getting behind this year's Safer Internet Day campaign on Tuesday 5 February. We're spreading the word that the online world isn't so scary and encouraging safe and sensible use of the internet - and we'd love for you to get involved too.

We know that internet safety is an important issue for many people who visit Online Centres, so why not use the day to share messages around online safety and to hold sessions which help learners to stay safe online

As a little incentive for you, we're holding a Safer Internet Day competition. For your chance to win a £50 Amazon gift card, all you have to do is encourage your learners to complete the Online Safety courses on Learn My Way and the Online Centre with the most completions on Safer Internet Day itself will win.

Let us know if you're taking part on social media using @Online_Centres and #SaferInternetDay2019.
