Hello <<First Name>>

Last week, Good Things Foundation was delighted to announce that our Future Digital Inclusion programme, funded by the Department for Education (DfE), has helped over 1 million people since 2014 to gain the basic digital skills they need for life and work - and we couldn’t have done it without you.

1 million support, but we're nowhere near finished. Digital skills are so important in many aspects of life and reaching 1 million learners through the Future Digital Inclusion programme is an incredible acheivement... There is still more to be done though. Helen Milner OB

This has been the result of a great partnership with DfE and, of course, the Online Centres Network. It’s been an incredible journey to get here and I’ve met so many amazing people along the way. Here are a few of them:

Once again, thank you to you all - this amazing achievement wouldn’t have been possible without your hard work and dedication.

Best wishes
Helen Milner OBE

Centre of the month. Community action. This month we're celebrating the fantastic work of the team at Community Action in Derby. Kate Richardson and the volunteer team are currently on a mission to train digital champions at 10 libraries in Derby City and has already made great headway. She uses the how to be a digital champion course along with resources she's created herself to give them the skills they need to support others. A £50 Amazon voucher is on it's way to community action to say thank you for all their hard work. Find out more about the work they do.

Important information: Course changes

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been hinting that some new courses are on their way in time for Safer Internet Day. We can finally give you a sneak peak of what this will look like. The world of internet security is constantly changing which is why our learning team has been working with Online Centres to update our Online Safety module.

From Friday 1 February the following four courses will no longer be available on Learn My Way:

  • Keeping your personal information secure online
  • More about internet safety
  • Staying safe in your digital world
  • Introduction to Internet Safety

These courses will be replaced with a brand new Online Safety subject which will include the following new courses:

  • Keeping your device safe
  • Being safe online
  • Keeping your personal data safe
If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact your network specialist.

Join us at our event to launch our research into digital motivations with BT

On Tuesday 26 February, in partnership with BT, we’re holding a practical and informative event for digital inclusion practitioners to learn more about how to understand motivations and overcome barriers for non users of the internet. The event will share our latest research, and help you to embed this insight into delivery at your centre.

The event will take place at the Impact Hub, Birmingham, B5 5NR, from 10.30 - 3.30.

At the event, we’ll be sharing the research findings, as well as giving you the chance to hear from other organisations who are successfully overcoming barriers in their communities. You’ll take part in workshops to dive deeper into the barriers, and come up with practical plans to help overcome them. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with other organisations who are supporting digitally excluded people.
