Hello <<First Name>>

I'm excited to share that our Learning Team is currently developing the next version of Learn My Way! The team would like to pass on their thanks for all the support and input from our community partners during the ‘next generation’ sessions. The feedback received has helped to improve the design and functionality of the learning platform and they are looking forward to sharing the trial version early in 2021. If you have any questions or further suggestions, please email Kevin Maye at kevin.maye@goodthingsfoundation.org

Best wishes

Volunteering support workshops for 2021!

Following the success of our volunteering programme, we are very pleased to say that we will be launching a series of volunteering support workshops throughout February and March next year. In response to your feedback, we will be running workshops to cover the following topics:

  • Supporting volunteers remotely
  • Recruiting the right volunteers
  • What makes a good digital volunteer
  • What a volunteer handbook should include
The workshops will give our community partners the chance to meet other individuals from the network and exchange volunteering good practice as well as take part in the training.

If you are interested in sharing your work in any of these areas, or if you have any questions that you think we should address in our workshops, then please get in touch with our Volunteering Manager, Hilary Nugent at hilary.nugent@goodthingsfoundation.org.

Look out for the workshop dates in our newsletters and across social media early next year!

Census 2021 launches search for community heroes to be honoured with purple plaques

To mark Census 2021 in England and Wales, a competition has launched to find the nation’s unsung community heroes. 22 people, one for each census that has taken place to date, will have their community spirit and efforts commemorated with a unique purple plaque.

From a schoolteacher who has transformed lives, to a doctor who has saved them, communities up and down the country are bursting with ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things - including the people behind our very own Online Centres Network.

People are being asked to nominate their community’s heroes by visiting
the Census 2021 heroes website before 31 December and nominees will be judged by a panel of community champions. The plaques will be installed ahead of census day, 21 March 2021.
