I know many of our Online Centres are facing challenging times at the moment, with new ways of working changing the way your organisation is run - at least temporarily. I want to share my thanks with all of you for how quickly you’ve adapted to support your staff, volunteers and learners.

Over the past few weeks, 1,000 devices have been distributed to centres as part of the DevicesDotNow initiative on behalf of FutureDotNow. I would like to extend my thanks to each and every one of you that have set these devices up, distributed these to learners and have supported individuals virtually to use them. Your work makes an incredible difference to people’s lives in helping to support digital inclusion. If you’re looking for more support, as you adjust to the current situation, there are lots of useful links on our resources page which is updated daily. You can find lots of information around running your organisation online, helping your learners, managing your health and wellbeing and funding opportunities.

TEMPORARY CHANGES TO ONLINE CENTRES NETWORK MAP

Due to the ongoing situation, we’ve decided to temporarily change our find a centre map so that people can see if your organisation is active during this difficult time. If you are still offering support to people in your community, and haven't yet let us know that you’re operational, please inform us and we will make sure you feature on the public facing map. COMMUNITIES PREPARED LAUNCHES PUBLIC HEALTH VOLUNTEER TRAINING

Communities Prepared, a project run by Groundwork South have recently updated their Public Health for Volunteers course to include guidance around coronavirus. The course aims to help community emergency volunteers and local groups so they can better understand public health emergencies and their role in supporting community resilience. Updates will be ongoing to ensure the information reflects the latest Government guidance on COVID-19. You can take a look at the resources on the website.
